The Christmas Concert was a packed 2 hour program that exceeded all expectations. The program was varied and included much more than the usual offerings. The three choirs were excellent, individually and together. The orchestra was "spot on." Scott Kennebeck and the other soloists performed admirally. What a great contribution John and Karen Romeri make to the St Louis music scene. Congratulations on an expectional program!
I greatly enjoyed this year's Christmas at the Cathedral concert. The orchestra was exceptional and the selections this year were particularly beautiful. I thought the choirs, both the adult and the children, were the best I have ever heard them. I also really liked the music that the bell choir played--very nice selections for handbells! Hearing Scott Kennebeck sing "Oh Holy Night" was something really special, but so was the entire choir singing "The Messiah". Thank you so much for bringing truly memorable music to the Cathedral! Dr. Romeri, Yesterday was thrilling to me. Thank you for giving me the opportunity to sing with such a wonderful choir. From the first note to the last, I loved every moment. St. Louis is so blessed to have you and to have our beautiful Cathedral Basilica! The glorious music was perfectly chosen for a glorious space. Thank you again, Connie Page (alto)
Tremendous!!! Fabulous! Wonderful! I am a member of choir, and was just drawn to this choir from the moment I met Dr. Romeri! The whole tag team of people who work and volunteer their time to help make concerts such as the Christmas at the Cathedral are amazing people. Wonderful solos took place and the adult choir is just spectacular. There are so many other things to say! And I think that every choir member will agree when I say even though we had to sing our brains out, it really pays off in the end. Again special thanks to Dr. Romeri who really makes these things happen. You truly are a wonderful gift! God bless all of you who participated, AND members of the audience!
Absolutely beautiful! The traditional carols were warm and glowing; the Messiah parts were superb, as were the soloists (WOW!). I remember what the Pinkham sounded like a few months ago and what a glorious piece of celebration you all turned it into. Congratulations on yet another magnificent concert! Pete Derenski
The Christmas Concert at the Cathedral was one of the most energized and uplifting performance that I have been a part of. The program was a wonderful blend of classical, traditional and contemporary Christmas music. The performance of the the soloists, the orchestra and all three choirs was outstanding with impeccable pitch, timing and discipline. Thank you to John, Karen, Tina and Jay for your ministry to the music and musicians of the Archdiocese! Merry Christmas! Clare Pennington
The concert was beautiful. I am so happy that my daughter has the privilege of being part of this wonderful choir. I have heard Messiah performed many times by the SLSO at Powell Hall and I think Scott Kennebeck was the best tenor I have ever heard on "Comfort Ye"! Well done, everyone.
It is hard to describe the range and depth of emotions and the electricity of joy that go through you when you hear such beautiful music and expression of God-given talent displayed for an overflow audience. The children, choir and musicians performing "What Child is This" and "Jessye's Carol", directed by such a talented conductor, were especially moving and beautiful - and I was part of the Adult choir! It is hard to describe the feelings and sense of accomplishment generated from being a part of such a great creation and the warm response from an audience of 1300+ standing and applauding could not provide a better recompense for our efforts. I was especially struck by the joy that lit up John Romeri's face when he was directing the children's choir and their equal response. This was truly a beautiful Christmas gift presented to those that were lucky enough to attend and a beautiful gift received in return from the givers. Tony Tumminello
Awesome performance! Beautiful music, and the sound really was heavenly! Children's choir was so professional, too! Can't wait for Powell Hall... Choir mom
